Volunteer
The biggest volunteer that YCEH does is the annual PIT count.
The PIT count is a one night snapshot of homelessness in Yuma County. It occurs each year during the last 10 days of January. It answers the question “How many persons were homeless on a specific night in Yuma County?” The count includes persons who stayed the night in an emergency shelter or transitional housing; and persons living in a place not meant for human habitation, such as cars, parks, sidewalks, abandoned buildings, or other public places.
Data collected during the PIT count is critical to effective planning and performance management toward the goal of ending homelessness for each community and for the nation as a whole. Counting those who are unsheltered ensures that many of the people with the highest needs are taken into account in community planning.
In order to volunteer, participate or donate please send an inquiry email to yceh928@gmail.com , attend local YCEH meetings, and check back regularly for updated PIT count information. YCEH begins planning for the annual PIT count each year approximately between September-November. Planning committee works towards all development, donations and coordinating volunteer recruitment.
